One hundred years ago today, over two years into the Great War, Private Joseph William Simpson, 10328 A Coy 7th Battalion, Prince of Wales’s (North Staffordshire Regiment) was killed in action aged 21.
Joseph was a Porthill Scout, and was the eighth of eighteen of our Scouts, that we know of, that were killed in the Great War.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
