Tonight we were pleased to have the District Commissioner join us at our Troop meeting to give out some awards.
First of all, he presented a Chief Scout’s Gold award to the first Scout in the Troop to achieve this award since we restarted the Troop in 2007.

Back in June, the Beavers and Cubs did a sponsored walk around Westport Lake to raise money for the PDSA (see here).
All the money is finally in and counted and we’re pleased to announce that they raised a whopping £485.64 for the charity!

In the summer the Cubs wrote and starred in their own video for the Creative Challenge badge. They did it in the style of a news programme.

Last night we held the Group’s AGM.
As well as the usual item we had a couple of special ones.
When it came time to elect the Group Executive Committee each of the committee members got given a hat to show who they are and what jobs they did. Nick ended up wearing three! Group Scout Leader, [...]

Thanks to the Beaver and three Cubs who turned up today to help at the Church’s summer fair. We raised £33 for the Church funds.

The Beavers and Cubs have spent this evening walking round Westport Lake to raise money for the PDSA.
The Beavers walked around the larger lake and then the small one and then played some games while the Cubs walked around the large lake four times.

As is usual at camp, the Cubs had a campfire. As the nights are a bit longer, it was possible to video some of it.

The Cubs have spent the weekend camping at Kibblestone and they have all earned their Outdoor Challenge badge!
Over the weekend they have learned how to use knives and axes properly, make shelters and about knots and lashings.

They also explored the camp, had a scavenger hunt and played many games.

The Cubs started their Home Help Badge last night. They cooked, served and washed up after making beans on toast for themselves.
They haven’t finished yet however! They will continue with the badge over the next few weeks!

Just back from our District’s St. George’s day Parade. It is quite impressive to see so many young people from both the Guiding and Scouting Movements in one place. When we were parading, we couldn’t hear the band at the front for most of the time as they were so far away from us!

The Cubs are in the middle of the Fitness Challenge Badge. As part of the Challenge, they are trying out martial arts, some of them for the first time.
They are all doing really well and are all on course to gain the award. They are all very loud when it comes to the shouting!
