Sixer’s Weekend
The Sixers Weekend at Sherratts Wood took place from 7/7 to 9/7 was enjoyed by four of Porthill Cubs and they came Third in both Competitions!
On Friday night the tents were put up in heavy rain, which stopped as soon as they were up. After the camp was opened there was a wide game. This was a good one to watch, as it involved one team getting cups of flour passed to another team. Very messy, but very funny. Then supper and bed, but not sleep because Porthill Cubs like to talk and talk and talk and then at 1.30am they decide to talk to the next tent, well shout, about milk!
Saturday, after a good breakfast the Lewis Trophy starts. The leaders of each Pack put on an outdoor skills base which the other Packs take part in and get scored out of 20. This took all morning and most of the afternoon. Then the cubs attempted the obstacle courses which they enjoyed.
After the evening meal there was another wide game and then a very good Campfire, which, the by now very tired, Cubs enjoyed. After a BBQ supper it was time for bed again.
Sunday we were a bit late getting up, had a good breakfast and then onto the Second Competition of the Weekend, the Safety Competition. At the same time the Cubs had the chance to go abseiling. After dinner, the results of the two Competitions were announced. Porthill did very well and finished third in both.
Thank you to the Cubs who represented Porthill, this was our best result on this weekend so far.

Group Football & AGM
Another football evening and AGM has come and gone!
All the members of the Group played, and enjoyed the football, with each section playing themselves and then the other sections. The Dads had a go a penalty shots at the end as well!
For the AGM, we were joined by the DC, DDC and District Chairman. Is was good to have Gretta, the District Chairman, with us this year as she was unwell in hospital last year.
