Scout’s Easter Camp
The Scouts have been camping at Consall on a rather cold and snowy Easter weekend.
The Scouts arrived at camp on the Friday evening and immediately set about setting up their bivvys and fires. In between sleet and hail showers they got everything set up before it went fully dark. Everyone was wrapped up well against the cold wind. Apparently, the temperature fell to -1°C during the night!
On Saturday morning, after restarting the fires and having breakfast, the Scouts built a shelter and helped Don fell a dead tree. A rope was put up between 2 trees for the Scouts to haul themselves across. After lunch another rope was put up so they could walk across it.
Before tea, we had an explore around the camp site. The Scouts went to bed and slept in the tents as we’d been warned it was to be an even colder night.
The leaders woke the following morning, to find the tent on their faces! It had snowed quite heavily in the night. Once the snow was knocked off, the tent reverted to its proper shape!
The Scouts enjoyed the snowball fights!
After the fires were started again, breakfast was had and the process of packing away was begun.
By the time we’d had lunch and packed everything away, the snow had gone and the sun was shining!

Graham Perry
It is with much sadness that we have learned of the death of Graham Perry. Graham was ADC Scouts for many years in Burslem District and its successor Potteries Central. He continued in various rolls in Potteries Central and its successor Potteries North.
We wish to pass on our condolences to his family. RIP Graham.
Preparation For Camp
The Scouts have spent some time in a wood in Audley learning how to light fires and set up bivvys. The firelighting was somewhat hampered by the fact that it had rained the previous night and there was a strong wind blowing. They managed it though!
