French Theme Night at Beavers
We ask the Beavers to come to a French night, bringing some French food and in french style dress. They all looked very good.
We open the Evening with build a Dam, swapping “Hello” for “Bonjour”, and then made paper Eiffel Towers out of Newspapers. Mohawk Lodge managed to make the tallest!
After this they all ate the French food and tried something new to them.
Finally we played french Boules with bean bags. They all enjoyed the evening and closed with Au Revoir.
Beaver fun Weekend At Kibb
The District Beaver Weekend in September will have a theme of Pirates. There will be lots of Activities, Games and a Campfire. Some lucky Beavers will have a Sleepover on the Saturday Night. Of course there is a cost for this. This will be on the form which the Beavers will get soon.
4th July
The Cubs decided for the 4th July we would have an American Superhero’s night.
The Cubs turned up in costumes of Spiderman, Superman, the Hulk and many more. We played Basketball and to keep the American theme going the Cubs brought in American Snacks mostly high in sugar and fat! After which they then played Baseball.

Mini Olympics & Group AGM
Last night the Group held a mini Olympics and its AGM.
The Beavers, Cubs & Scouts participated in games which were based on Olympic sports and ones that were not (see the photos)! Our Olympics had a truly international theme as one of the Scouts had a Spanish Scout staying with him and brought him along for the fun. Porthill Scouts have now gone international!
A new Olympic sport
For the evening we were joined by our special guests, Steve Broadhurst, the District Commissioner, Gretta Bloor, the District Chairman and Fr. Brian Warrillow, St. Andrew’s vicar.
During the AGM, Steve Broadhurst presented Nick with his Wood Badge, John with his 5 year service certificate and Sharon and Paul with their 20 years service badges and certificates. Three new Scouts were invested during the evening and Sharon presented the Cub of the Year award.
