Saturday 27^th September

Eight Beavers from Porthill attended the Beaver fun day at Kibblestone Scout Camp. We arrived at 10.30am and had an Opening Ceremony which included some presentations to some of the helpers in the District.

After this we were put with Knutton Beavers for the days activities. We played some games, made a Telescope and had a go at blow darts. We then went to the artificial Cave system and all had ago at crawling around it. I did get stuck at one point and had to go back feet first the way I came in. Only three of the beavers made it all the way around.

Lunch came next and the Beavers found out why my name is Munch, When we had all finished they all had ago at making a cutlass & scull and crossbones flag. The Cutlasses didn’t stay straight for long!

We then went for a walk to the shop and the Beaver fun area and from there we went to the Archery and tried to hit the targets, which some did. After another go in the fun area it was time for two of the Beavers to go home, but the rest stayed for a sleepover.

My base in the day had been left out as I needed to look after the Beavers in the absence of Rachael. This was a Canon which fired fizzy drinks bottles; they all had ago but had the most fun tying to catch them. Dinner was next and most cleared their plates unlike fussy Cubs! There was a bit of free time before we set off for a Campfire with 20^th Stafford Scout Group.

When we got back we had supper and then got ready for bed and the Beavers went to sleep very fast. In the morning after a good Breakfast and a quick tidy up it was home time.

I had a great time and I think the Beavers did as well!

Today was the archery competition and it was a fine September’s day. All the Scouts shot well, but we didn’t win – this year at least!

Congratulations to the overall winners from the 87th Holy Trinity!

Five of the Scouts have just been to participate in our District’s archery competition. Today was the practice session where all the Troops taking part get chance to hone their skills.

The Beavers had their fist meeting after the holidays and drew pictures and wrote about what they did in the summer. They decided they wanted to show everyone what they did, so their drawings are in the Gallery.

One of the Young Leaders also wrote about her summer. Can anyone guess which one it is?
