Burdi Boys – A Review!

Last night a small group of Cubs, Scouts & Leaders went to watch Burdi Boys, The Gang Show from our old District.

It was great to see so many old friends there both on stage and front of house. Rachael and Paul performed really well and Rachael’s solo song and Paul’s sketch about Potteries dialect were highlights (not to mention Paul’s hat and clogs – you have to be there!).

The Beavers and Cubs were particularly good this year and very nearly stole the show!

So to all the cast and crew, thank you for a great show on your Golden Jubilee! Looking forward to 2011.

Paul & Rachael are starring in Potteries North District’s Gang Show Burdi Boys this week at the Mitchell Memorial Theatre from Tuesday 25/11/08 to Saturday 29/11/08. Please buy lots of tickets and go and see them perform!

Barnswood Halloween & Fireworks Camp

The camp was a joint Cub camp with the Cub Pack from Berry Hill. Our Scouts also attended the camp and our Beavers came out on the Saturday for some fun and games.

Friday night was Halloween, so we went for a scary walk the only people to get scared were the Scouts.

Saturday, the Cubs completed all of the work required to gain the Road Safety badge; the Beavers came out at 10am and did outdoor activities, they then joined the cubs in the afternoon for art and games.

The Scouts put up patrol tents and then made a fire, which the Beavers used to cook on. In the afternoon they played a wide game all together and got the campfire ready for that evening.

After tea, we all took part in a game of Deal or Not, where some of the Cubs won some money for the Sunday trip to the tuck shop. We then had a small firework display, followed by the campfire which took us through to supper time and then to bed as all of the children were extremely tired from the day’s activities.

Sunday, after breakfast there was a kit inspection and a Scouts own. While all this was going on the firework display was tided up and tents were taken down.

There was a quick dinner, before the end of camp, where the winning six were awarded with souvenir mugs for their hard efforts over the weekend.

Overall, it was a hectic camp, but as normal most definitely well worth it!

I would like to thank Sharon for planning the Cub programme, Rachael for the Beaver programme and all the leaders who helped with the Scouts. Also I would like to say thanks to the cooks for great food.
