Beaver’s Beach Party

How do you have a beach party when the nearest beach is over 50 miles away? You make your own!

The Beavers decided that for their last meeting before the summer holidays they would have a beach party. So they had lots of goodies to eat and sand was specially imported so they could have a sandcastle making competition.

After the the sandcastle competition, there was a conga around the hall and other silly dancing too!

At the end of the party two new Beavers were welcomed to the Colony by our resident Beaver Ontario.

Harry Tyler – Gone Home

The Group is saddened to learn of the recent death of Harry Tyler. Harry was for many years a constant fixture at Kibblestone Scout Camp, and what he didn’t know about the camp site and Scouting wasn’t worth knowing!

I remember Harry showing me a tree that he had planted when he was a young Scout and he could still pick it out! We also felt that something wasn’t right if we’d been to Kibblestone and not been told off by Harry for something!

We send our condolences to Phil and Michele and all of Harry’s family.

Wide Game at Bradwell Woods

The Scouts have just come back from playing a wide game in Bradwell Woods. The idea had been to let off some rockets that the Scouts had made for their Astronautics Badge, but it was raining and there was quite a strong wind. So like NASA we postponed the launch until another day and played a wide game instead!

As it’s been raining a lot recently, everyone got muddy and wet and a few of us slipped over! At one point all the Scouts disappeared when walking through some ferns as they were shorter than the fern bushes! However, we all had a good time and by the time we’d finished the clouds had nearly gone, the sun was shining and there was a rainbow on the horizon!
