One hundred years ago today, nearly two years into the Great War, 23 days in the Battle of the Somme and just a week after the last of our Scouts was killed, Private Charles Edward Dryhurst G/9675, 4th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers was killed in action aged just 18.
Charles was a Porthill Scout, and was the sixth of eighteen of our Scouts, that we know of, that were killed in the Great War. He was also the second of the three Porthill Scouts, that we know of, killed on the Somme.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
