Last night, one of our Assistant Scout Leaders, passed the final stage of his Queen’s Scout Award.
Jack has been with the Group since he was a Beaver and has progressed through the Cubs, Scouts (via a time at our friends at 36th St. Wulstans due to our Troop being closed due to lack of Leaders), Young Leader and now an Assistant Scout Leader.
To complete the award, Jack had to give a presentation outlining the challenges he had to achieve for the award. These included skill, physical activity, service, expedition, residential, environment and international challenges.
During the presentation Jack told the audience, which included many people who had helped him throughout his Scouting career, about his challenges and showed pictures of the highlights of his time in Scouting so far!
After the presentation the audience was able to look at some of the mementoes Jack has collected and have a drink, cake and doughnuts!
We are all very proud that Jack is the first member of the Group in 15 years to gain the Queen’s Scout Award and he now joins the Group’s 4 other Queen’s Scouts and 1 King’s Scout (a Scout in the 1930s!).

Jack will now be going to the Queen’s Scout Award Parade in Windsor in April with a number of other Queen’s Scouts from Newcastle District.
