On a very sunny Sunday afternoon yesterday, the Group took part in Newcastle District’s annual St. George’s day Parade in Newcastle Town centre.

We had a great turn out from the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts and the Drum Corps again lead the parade. This is the 5th time they have played for the District and you can see how far they’ve come if you look at 2011’s photos. This year marked the first time our new bugles have been played.

As well as having the parade, service in Church and everyone retaking their Scouting Promise, the opportunity was taken, while in church for the District to present some awards. The awards were presented by Newcastle Borough’s Mayor.

Amongst them were our Assistant Scout Leader and Bandmaster, John who was awarded the Medal of Merit.

Assistant Scout Leader Jack was awarded his Wood Badge after completing his training.

Group Executive members Lisa and Dan received their 5 Year Service Awards
