The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts were all out at Kibblestone last weekend doing various activities.

The Cubs came out to the Training Centre on the Friday evening for a bit of fun around the camp and to celebrate the 100th birthday of Cub Scouting. After some running around and getting a bit muddy, the Cubs all had birthday cake made especially by Sharon.

The Scouts also came out on the Friday evening, were having a relaxing ‘chill camp’ all weekend and stayed in the Rover Den.

The Beavers all arrive on Saturday morning to find the main room in the Training Centre had been transformed into a jungle!

After finding their beds, everyone (Leaders included) made their own jungle related place mats. Then, as most of the Beavers had never been to Kibblestone before, it was time for a quick walk around the site. Lunch followed and then it was time to make masks, shields and paint huge pictures of the animals that represented the Beaver’s lodges for the weekend.

After a quick drink it was time for the Beavers to learn their first knots, put up their first tent and to make mini catapults.

While this was going on, the Scouts were down at Mosty Lee Mill building, to various degrees of success, rafts. Not wanting to stand still for any time despite the rain, the Beavers then were shown how to light a fire (Nick & Jop were very pleased that it started even though the wood was wet!), make shelters and toast marshmallows on the fire.

After tea a visit was paid to the Scouts and to play games in the field by the Rover Den. Returning to their camp the Beavers then took part in the traditional camp fire, followed by supper and bed. After a very busy fun packed day, it didn’t take the Beavers long to go to sleep!

Sunday morning came around with some more rain. This didn’t put the Beavers off, who, after breakfast packed their kit and went to play around the tree house before buying the camp shop. By then it was time for the camp to come to an end, say goodbye to the Leaders and go home tired, but having had a great time!
