1917: A Porthill Scout Dies in France

One hundred years ago today, more than two and a half years into the Great War, Private Joseph George Furnival, 202017 The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) was killed in action aged 19.

Joseph was a Porthill Scout, and was the ninth of eighteen of our Scouts, that we know of, that were killed in the Great War.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.
