1918: A Porthill Scout is Killed in France

One hundred years ago today, nearly three and a half years into the Great War, Private Joseph Matthew Hollis, 201905 2/6th Battalion Prince of Wales’s (North Staffordshire Regiment) died age 23.

Joseph was a Porthill Scout, and was the thirteenth of eighteen of our Scouts, that we know of, that were killed in the Great War.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
